Next week...
Birthdays & Holidays
We keep forgetting this section whoops.
No birthdays this weekchange.
Monday is the 4th of July, a national holiday for Underwood and Fall City. However, it’s a day of no particular importance for the Zen natives, so this 4th of July you’ll find a lot of the Bastan businesses are keeping their doors open while the Earth businesses are closed. There will be a fireworks display in one of Fall City’s major public parks, bring a picnic basket and a friend!
On Zenderael, both Mianeh (+New York City) and Jioret (+Washington D.C.) are having their own firework displays with permission from Zen governments and collaboration from curious alchemists. Several American Earth based businesses close this day.
Thursday is the Jewish holiday of Tzom Tammuz, which marks the beginning of Bein ha-Metzarim, leading up to Tisha B’Av on July 28th.
Summer courses begin!
July 5th (Tuesday) is the first day of summer courses at FCU! Classes will be meeting for four weeks, going from July 5th to August 5th. All classes will be M T W R (four days a week) meeting for two hours every day. Morning classes are 8AM - 10AM, and afternoon classes are 2PM - 4PM.
If you haven’t signed your character up yet, it’s not too late! Just let us know!
Postdragons on strike!
The faerie dragons of the dragonpost system are fed up with their use in the war efforts. They’ve been drafted into illegal deliveries, mail-bombing as a tracking method for Aerveas’s enemies, and several have been caught in crossfire on routine deliveries through resistance-heavy areas of Everea.
The post dragons are done. They are not having any more of this nonsense. Starting Sunday, dragon mail is no longer running. The dragonpost offices are all closed, and when you use a dragonmail stamp, instead of summoning a postdragon, it summons a strike notice. A typed form letter magics itself into existence, stating that dragonpost will not be running until further notice due to a worker’s strike, we apologize for the inconvenience.
Welp. Now how are you going to get in touch with your friends who’ve been shipped between dimensions?
Answer: you’re not! Letters in Zenderael, however, are still the main method of communication and this is a shocking and terrible blow to friends who live in different towns, oh no!! The Mazda is taking a proactive step this time, requesting the participation of Saftan leagues in a new postal service.
There will be a background check for leagues before they are allowed to join the service. Those that pass (if your league is not a criminal syndicate, you can assume this is you) will be responsible for handling letters and parcels, carrying them from drop off points and personally handing them to those who will receive them.
However, organizing all of this is going to take time, so while guilds are getting together, submitting information for background checks, mapping out delivery routes, etc, everyone is still stuck without a postal service for the time being. They’ll have everything straightened out by next Sunday--so you’ll get more details on how league post works next weekchange.
Discount tablets
Hey, the internet still works. And phone signals may not be interdimensional, but they’ll work just fine intradimensionally.
By Monday, the alchemist guild has started selling tablets at a massive discount. Any second-rate adventurer can afford one easily off of their adventuring profits. And of course electronics stores that came over from Earth are selling phones and tablets of their own. Some stores may be putting them on sale to compete with the alchemists.
The Zen forums, which were already the default homepage programmed into alchemist tablets, have now been completely re-designed, removing any link to the game they were originally for. Any threads from before the revamp have been removed. The slate is wiped clean. Forum accounts and account info remain intact, but post history is gone. That means you can look up your player’s username, but you can’t look up everything they ever said about you.
The forums are currently unnamed, and a contest is being held to decide the new name. Everyone is free to participate, and the prize isMini not naming the forums Butts 5 potions of the winner’s choice. (Health, mana... frogs... whatever.)
Internet refresher:
Posts on the forums are public and open for anyone to read.
PMs are private threads between two people; anyone with a forum account can send or receive PMs; sending a PM is as easy as clicking a link on a user’s profile page. Site admins are able to read user PMs but have a policy not to without reason (such as a violation or bug report).
E-mails are private and can be sent to groups of people, but you must acquire someone’s e-mail address before you can send to it. E-mail communication is heavily encrypted and site admins are not able to read user e-mails. The security of e-mail communication depends entirely on the user’s account security.
Mods will not use information from private communications against you without permission!
Queen Omid standoff
The situation with Queen Omid is in process of being resolved. Information pending.
Crazy weather we’re having lately, huh?
FC meteorologists don’t know what the fuck. Anyone present at City Hall on Saturday would know, though – that isolated snowstorm right in the vicinity while everywhere else continued to experience downpours points to one god: Keidra.
Be careful. All these weather shifts may result in the catching of a cold.
The weather...
Sunday Prediction: rain. Reality: the downpour turns into a snowstorm, blanketing all of Fall City and Underwood in a foot of snow.
Monday Prediction: cloudy. Reality: the snow remains, with a light amount of new snow drizzling throughout the day.
Tuesday Prediction: cloudy. Reality: the snow melts. By evening, it is ninety degrees with humidity in the ninetines.
Wednesday Prediction: cloudy. Reality: waking up to a tropical summer. Super hot, super humid, breaking out into a sweat not even five minutes outside doing nothing. By evening, dark grey clouds are rolling in.
Thursday Prediction: cloudy. Reality: Around 2am, thunder and lightning. The cracks continue until mid-morning. It begins to steadily rain from the afternoon into the night. The rain is accompanied by semi-strong winds that have the rain falling at a sharp slant. Cracklecat activity may be higher than usual.
Friday Prediction: cloudy. Reality: the steady rain has become a steady snowfall. The humidity has sharply dropped. The wind has not let up. The clouds continue to loom and crackle with lightning and the occasional boom of thunder. Cracklecat activity may be higher than usual.
Saturday Prediction: cloudy. Reality: sunny and bright. The snow has disappeared. The winds have settled into a comfortable breeze.

Does this mean we're now getting e-mail addresses @ambereyes.saf.gov?
Because I know Lera wants one!!

.gov is US only.
The alchemists have worked with the mages to create Safta's own server, firewalled and encrypted with a mix of technology and magic. The e-mail address would be: first (initial, partial, full) + last (full)@ag.saf.mil.

Travel time for the spirit will be akin to whatever animal they're closest to, or, if it's a wind spirit, say, it would be riding the breeze, or if it's a water spirit, traveling through the rivers, etc. I would put average travel time one way to around 1-5 days depending on distance.

Did you guys ever hear of Ten Cent Beer Night? It was a baseball game in the 70's that allowed you to buy beer for ten cents. The result was a massively overcrowded stadium that devolved into a riot, with both teams attacking each other with bats.
And since New York is in Mianeh, with no curfew, and the Mets and Yankees are there with only each other to play...
The answer is clear: ONE COPPER BEER NIGHT. In a terribly misguided effort to make Zendereans interested in baseball. Shenanigans ensue.

I ... can't remember if it stopped or not. Oh, maybe it did? Because the paladins didn't stop there and went to Omghan instead because it wasn't stable or somesuch.

Go for it! We'll say NYPD sends out some crowd control officers as a proactive defense against trouble, but not enough- the incident in the '70s is so far in the past they're severely underestimating what a baseball game full of fans and, uh, people capable of magic mixed with beer can accomplish in terms of chaos.
