Yes. There are several different armour/weapon types.
Armour comes in 4 classes: Cloth Leather Mail Plate
Weapons also come in 4 classes: Light (wands, staffs, daggers) Medium (one-handed swords, axes, and spears) Heavy (two-handed swords, axes, and spears) Ranged (guns, bows, crossbows)
As for the specifics of which classes can wear what, I will get back to you on that once the class descriptions are finished. In general, tank classes get plate/heavy, melee dps gets leather/mail/medium, and support gets cloth/light. Some classes are exceptions to this.
