OOC News
A new player has arrived! Welcome Tex with his PC Lera, living in Fall City, and her current paladin alt Acher.
Last Week...
The game timeline is up to date!
With the arrival of cross-dimensional dragon mail, many people in Zenderael have been able to finally communicate home about their whereabouts!
Rhys and Jordan would be reviving their conspiracy club more if they were more open about... anything.
School is back on! Gabriel is excited. Harriet is mortified. Duncan corrected a Zen professor on the first day. gg.
Ravindra punched the Spenta and was given time off. Ravi is having a lot of trouble coming to terms with players in general.
Rasmus and Virelai, on the other hand, aren't all that concerned.
Reilanin's discovered a book in the World Library written in an old version of Farsi. Some of her magic runes are similar.
Nova is terrorizing players with gifts. Some are actually gifts. Some are bottles (or cakes!?) of horror.
Nayan's been pilfering Earth technology. He's sold some to Nova and the other alchemists, no doubt.
Acher, you poor paladin, you've run into Majestica and Go.
Harriet and Benedict are possibly fanning the flames of romance.
The Asha's mind has broken. Welp.
Next week...
Alchemist Tablets
Thanks to rogues stealing from hapless tourists, alchemists reverse engineering Earth technology, and mages loaning their efforts, the alchemist guild has come out with their own brand of tablet PC. Similar to the iPad, they're made with wood, ceramic, or metal materials, and use glass screens and polarized ink. Break one and you'll have a huge mess on your hands, and unfortunately they're a bit easier to break than Earth's hard plastics.
They can vary widely in appearance depending on the specific team that made it, but for the most part they have the same form as an iPad, with a logo from whichever alchemist built it carved or painted somewhere on it. They haven't quite figured out touch-sensitivity, so most of them use a polarized stylus for input. It's like writing in a notebook with infinity pages!
Interface is also highly variable, but for the most part they're generally structured like books, with pages. They seem to be compatible to transfer data from Earth tablets, so eBooks can be transferred onto them, though who knows how they managed that. For now, functionality is limited to text-based things or drawn images (basically anything you could do with a pencil on a sheet of paper), and information can only be transferred if the tablets are physically touching. There's no need to recharge them, they seem to function indefinitely on latent magic.
They're being sold either by alchemists directly or rogues acting as suppliers, so they're easiest to get in Safta or Pakerion near the capitals, though rogues are hitting up Everea as well--it's just pricier there. This being new tech, they're on the expensive side, but an adventurer can afford one easily if they skimp on supplies for a week.
For now, they're more like eReaders, no connectivity or apps, but future development is in the works.
High School Fieldtrip
Students at Stephanie Cruiser high are going on a field trip next week to check out FCU/Bastan University. It's going to take up all of Friday (May 27th), so get your permission slips signed now!
Pakerion Tensions
King Aerveas is expanding his personal guard to a personal army. Berserkers in particular are being recruited, because that's what you meatheads are for. Except the Ahura disagrees and is refusing to support the king. He's doing one worse, what with all the active disruption of tax collection.
King Aerveas has decided to call the Ahura out for being potential traitor to Zenderael itself, seeing as he sides with the others who invade it. But then, he's probably one of them too, isn't he? You guys really want to follow him? Of the berserkers who care (and let's be honest, most don't and are off on their own), more berserkers are leaving the Undertow to join King Aerveas for his mercenary work than are staying to support the new Ahura.
It's getting kind of lonely in the tree city.
The weather...
Sunday Partly cloudly. It's also really beginning to warm up this week. Highs are nearing 80 and lows at night are around 50ish.
Monday Scattered clouds.
Tuesday Partly cloudy.
Wednesday Scattered clouds, but begins to grow more cloudy.
Thursday Overcast.
Friday Warm is over. Temperatures cool down to the 60s again and guess what? RAIN TODAY~
Saturday More all day rain. Spoiler: you're probably not going to like next week.
